This quote is important when thinking about Grant. Grant didnt want to help teach Jefferson to be a man. Grant was chosen to teach because he is the only edjucated man that Mrs. Emma knows that could help Jefferson, but Grant’s immuture nature makes him resist. Being to nice to say no, he looks at the situation negitivly, and shows no respect for Jefferson. He does not want to help Jefferson, even though his job is to help the black children in his society.
