One more great Whoopdy Doo for me!
Oh man, only one more left before I have to write the new post about satire. I’m getting close!
Oh man oh man, where should I start on the Macbeth adaptations. Well, before I get into a rant about how I find most redoes of anything annoying, I should just point out I wasn’t the biggest fan of Macbeth in its original state. The book was way to depressing to start off the year. But please, take no offense Wasserman, I’m not questioning your book picking skills, just maybe your timing or order.
I mean, I guess if I were to pick a redo I like the best it would be the movie the Throne of Blood. I love movies, if you didn’t know, and two big parts of having a good movie are 1) scenery and 2) acting. To me it doesn’t matter if the movie is in subtitles. My favorite movie of all times is a foreign French film. If a foreign movie is good enough the dialect should not matter. That’s the best part of Throne of Blood. The movie is created in a way that you can understand what’s going on by the way the characters move and look. But I have to admit, the best part of this film was by far
Lady Asaji Washizu. I’m sorry, but she is by far the best
Lady Macbeth. In my opinion she is much more interesting that the original
Lady Macbeth because of the way she moves and acts. It was just way too weird. But sadly, even good things have their flaws. Even though the movie was amazing, it didn’t have the same supernatural undertone. In the original Macbeth the three witches are creepy women who either know the future, or use Macbeth as a puppet to fallow through with their plan. Either way they are more prominent figures. But I think that is one of the reasons I liked the movie more. It did not hold on to Macbeth. It used it as a guideline, but was not a clone of it. I have to say, the other two adaptations tied in last place for me. They both felt fake and unnecessary. It is as though the writer could not think of anything to write, so just used Shakespeare to get their work published. If I were Shakespeare… and I wasn’t dead… I would be wicked upset that people were butchering my plays like that. When it comes to uMbatha I understand that reading Macbeth from the perspective of another country is interesting, but not enough to really like its writing. To me that is something that should not be a whole story. Actually, I have changed my mind, that or I lied but you’ll never know which, I do have a least favorite. When it comes to really bad Macbeth redoes I give the prize to good old Travesties. Come on people, its called creativity. The Travesties to me was like reading something a five year old would write, but with better vocabulary. When ever I tried to compare the two writings (Macbeth and Travesties) I felt like I was getting dumber. To me the whole thing is just weird and makes no sense. I was pretty disappointed by how unimaginative the writer was. At least the other two adaptations made attempts to put their own twist into the story. Taking a story and changing the ending so dead people come back to life and everyone has a good laugh about it, yeah… not that deep. Now do not get me wrong, I have a good feeling I’m just being a negative
Nancy about all of this. But hey, I pretty much put a warning at the top of this post that I didn’t like any of the four. Besides, when aren’t I negative?!

Oh man… how do i always write so much with out really saying anything? Does anyone actually read all this stuff?
